Swedish Massage

The most widely recognised and commonly used category of massage is the Swedish massage. Swedish massage techniques can vary from light to vigorous. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging. It is beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility, easing tension and relaxing the entire body providing relief from aches and pains.

Holistic Massage

Holistic Massage is based on Swedish Massage. Holistic massage concentrates on both the mind and the body. It can rejuvenate and relax, making you better prepared for dealing with the day to day stresses that we all face.

Treatments draw from a wide range of massage techniques and may include gentle massage, stretches, relaxation work and deep tissue massage.

It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to relieve muscle tension and knots.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is a specific type of massage therapy that concentrates primarily on the deeper layers of muscles and fascia (which organises muscles into functional units in the body). Deep Tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in treating a wide variety of physical ailments including injuries and chronic pain. It is both corrective and therapeutic. The therapist will adjust the pressure to suit each client.

Sports Massage

Despite the name, a sports massage is not solely designed for use on sports participants or fitness fanatics. Individuals in physically and/or emotionally demanding jobs can also benefit greatly. Sports Massage works with the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles, tendons and connective tissue. The therapist can use different techniques to reduce muscle pain, increase flexibility, improve range of motion and rebalance posture. This is achieved by the physical, manual manipulation of soft tissues with supportive advice and stretching to aid recovery.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth heated stones as an extension of their own hands to massage the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly. It also helps to improve circulation and can help reduce stress, anxiety and tension.

Trigger Point Technique

Trigger Point Technique can relieve muscle aches and pains and it can also assist with the redevelopment of muscles and/or restore motion to joints. A trigger point is more than a tender area, it affects not only the muscle where the trigger point is located but also causes "referred pain" in tissue supplied by nerves.

Trigger points are located in taut bands of muscle fibres. The trigger point is the most tender point in the band. The therapist will locate and deactivate them using finger pressure. Trigger point technique is an excellent tool, but used alone has limited effectiveness, so it must be combined with possibly a number of massage techniques including, stretching, fascia release and deep tissue massage to name a few.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is based on an ancient healing system called Ayurveda. This form of massage works on the full back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, ears and face. The areas are massaged using a firm yet gentle rhythmic movement. Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots and muscle tension, relaxes connective tissue and aids in the elimination of toxins. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is a massage therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother's needs. It is also called pre-natal massage. As well as being deeply relaxing and a lovely way to spoil yourself, pregnancy massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and oedema (swelling). In addition, massage can lower levels of stress hormones, reduce blood pressure, reduce fluid retention, improve circulation, reduce anxiety, nourish the skin and calm the body and mind.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment. The massage uses very light pressure with gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase lymphatic flow, with the aim of getting rid of toxins in the body. Lymphatic drainage massage can have a beneficial effect on your general health. It can help your body fight off infections and speed up healing and recovery from illness or surgery. It is also an excellent Pre & Post Flight Treatment to ward off colds and flu. It helps reduce water retention and can also help with weight loss.

It can be a husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, same-sex partners, moms and daughters or best friends. Relax and unwind together. Our Couples Massage is a wonderful way for couples, family members or friends to spend quiet time, each benefitting from the therapeutic results of a massage while experiencing total relaxation together. With Advanced Massage, our couples massage is performed by a couple (husband & wife team)... so we can provide a gentle relaxing massage, a deep tissue massage (and when we say deep tissue, we mean deep tissue!) or anything in between. We will customise your treatments using a combination of therapies and techniques.
